AMERICAN NIGHTMARE

The position and predicament of Black bodies have been how America measures her progress. The evolution and stagnancy of this country mirrors the strides of Black Americans—tethered to their wades and footsteps. For centuries of brutality and displacement, "Black folks" dreams have attempted to shake her out of a deep sleep to witness the nightmare she manufactured in a warehouse before putting herself to rest.

But she has awakened to a dire reality. She's seen how we've taken the symbols in this home, made them ours, clothed ourselves in Black nationalism, and stylized patriotism. Pledged allegiance to our dreams and the version of herself she fears ever having become. America will see how dreams eventually end and awaken to Black as new, alive, and clothed in spirit. Her nightmare.
