PASSED DOWN

Originally, I just wanted to document one of the homies getting a line up in his Grandma’s backyard. I honestly just thought it would look great on camera and feel nostalgic. As Ms. Mary walked out of the house, I quickly realized that I was there for a much more profound purpose. In such a short space of time, I learned lessons that could change a life on impact. From conversations about faith and family to the mistreatment of the youth in the inner city, Ms. Mary was one of many stories. The subject, Jai, spoke highly of his Grandmother and adamantly referenced her as the reason for his successes. The backyard haircut was the original reason for me being there, but in reality, it was much more. It was the connection point of wisdom shared. This common backyard haircut suddenly became a nexus, connecting lessons and values passed down through generations.
