DREAM STREET

This yearly series remains my favorite - raw glimpses into a cherished tradition. Every MLK Day, we'd flock to 9th Street dressed in our finest, reconnect with family, savor southern BBQ and listen to southern music. The cars and gold teeth defined our culture. I sought to capture the joyful essence of this day, often viewed negatively by outsiders. Through candid moments and rich details, I aimed to shed an uplifting light on the vibrant Southside of Saint Petersburg, Florida that raised me. Every photo has its own story. It feels like the camera brought me deeper into the world of the street that I used to walk as a kid; 9th street. I see joy on the faces of the people captured. I see people of all ages coming together. I see beauty and I see love. This is what “Dream Street” is about. Having documented the last 4 years, I intend to continue this annual homage, etching today's moments into visual history. My camera preserves both tradition and evolution, so future generations can know MLK Day in South St. Pete as intimately as I do.
